Application of Meat Processing Technologies
The project is studying the benefit of using NMR as an online technology to measure meat quality. The potential of very fast chilling is being investigated with the idea of producing tender meat with minimal water loss. A machine to stretch meat and therefore improve functionality and tenderness is being studied. |

Canola pathology support
This project is concerned with disease constraints to yield in canola and wheat. It aims to develop controls in consultation with farmers. |

Decline in pH in beef carcases
The objective of this program is to undertake case studies and a strategic research program to develop a set of Industry Best Practice Guidelines (IBPG) for management of issues with fast pH decline of red meat, associated with unacceptable quality and yield variations. |

Development of a meat science - Resource Flock
Establishment of a resource flock at Cowra AR&AS to provide animlas for stratgeic reserach on muscle and fat in the Sheep CRC. |

Effect of sheep genotype and age on tenderness of meat
This project will help to clarify whether or not sires that are selected for muscling produce tougher meat. |

Effects of sire type and growth rate on sheepmeat eating quality
This project is one of a number funded by Meat & Livestock Australia to study the factors that effect the eating quality of sheepmeat. The overall objective of the program is to develop a system for predicting the eating quality of sheepmeat so as to provide consumers with a purchase choice based on sound facts about quality. |

Environmental Services Scheme
The Environmental Services Scheme (ESS) is a trial program to help the NSW Government create a market for a range of environmental services provided by landholders to the people of NSW. Through the ESS, the Government will work closely with landholders to identify how activities that provide environmental services can be incorporated alongside their existing production activities. |

Feedlot computer program
To refine a prototype feedlot gross margin program developed by NSW DPI so it is suitable for general use via the web and to validate the underlying performance estimates used within the program. |

Genetic parameter estimation for meat traits in Merinos
Provide heritabilities or genetic correlations for Australian Merinos for carcass or meat quality traits. |

Immobilisation effects on meat traits
An existing MLA project at Fletchers Dubbo aims to demonstrate a full suite of CPMS electronics technologies for the sheep industry and optimise these parameters for maximum tenderness and colour improvement. It is believed that improved meat colour is resulting from the high frequency immobilisation (HFI) applied at the start of the process. This has not been quantified. |
