Type Holdings
The NSW Agricultural Scientific Collections Unit (ASCU) includes a significant amount of Primary Type material. This material includes a number of Acarina types, particularly those designated by Eberhard Schicha, as well as insect types designated by W.W. Froggatt and others.

It is planned that all primary type entries will provide full details of label data, original reference and current status of the name. Photographs of the type specimen, where possible, are also being included for all primary types.

The Taxa included in the list so far are:
Acari
Blattodea
Coleoptera
Diptera
Hemiptera
Hymenoptera
Lepidoptera
Orthoptera
Thysanoptera

Thysanoptera

Family PHLAEOTHRIPIDAE
Choleothrips geijerae Moulton 1927: 155
Note: ASCU holds a slide mount with two adult females (identified as this species by L.A. Mound) and one immature with label data "Rolled leaf galls / on Geijera parvifolia / W.W.F./ Gunnedah / N.S.W ". These data match those of the holotype specimen and paratypes in ANIC and BMNH and were clearly part of the same collection by Froggatt. Moulton (1927) states that the paratypes are in the Froggatt collection, Canberra, and was apparently unaware that Froggatt also had material in ASCU. It is presumed that Moulton didn't see this material and it cannot be regarded as part of the type series.
Choleothrips percnus Mound 1971: 88
Paratype:
1 female, 11 miles S of Moree, NSW, 16.vii.1968, L.A. Mound 736.
Note: This specimen is one of 32 males and 35 females with these collection data designated as paratypes but its location in ASCU was not included by Mound 1971.
Csirothrips watsoni Mound
Paratypes:
1 female, 1 immature (mounted on one slide), Sydney, NSW W.W. Froggatt
Elatea stannardi Faure
Details to be added
Kladothrips rugosus Froggatt 1906: 1011
Syntypes:
2 females (mounted on the same slide), Tamworth, NSW, bred from galls on "Myall", W.W. Froggatt.
1 female (slide mounted), Tamworth, NSW, 1901, W.W.F., spiny gall on Acac. pendula
14 larvae (mounted on the same slide), Tamworth, NSW, 25.iii.1901, thrips form galls on Myall", W.W. Froggatt,
Notes: Froggatt's (1906) original publication on this species was simply a brief note appended to a general interest article on thrips. However, as the note included a name proposal and a brief description, it constitutes formal publication of the name. The author stated that a technical description would shortly be published in the Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales but this appears not to have eventuated. The material to which Froggatt (1906) refers is almost certainly the material in ASCU.
Sacothrips corycidis Mound 1971: 94
Paratype:
1 female (slide mounted), 3 mi S. Peak Hill, NSW, 6.vi.1968, L.A. Mound 683.
Notes: This is not the paratype listed by Mound (1971) as being in ASCU. The specimen designated from ASCU material was a female from Mullaley, NSW (collected on wilga, 24.vii.1959 by E.M. Reed) which is probably now either in ANIC or BMNH.
Thaumatothrips froggatti Karny

Trichothrips americanus Hood
