The Society of Australian Systematic Biologists

and

The Australian Coral Reefs Society

The Charles Darwin Symposium is an annual event supported by Charles Darwin University and the Northern Territory Government. In 2009, a special symposium will be held to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species and the 170th anniversary of the visit of The Beagle to northern Australia. This symposium will be held 22-24 September leading into the AES joint conference.

Call for Nominations of Office Bearers and Councillors

The following offices will fall vacant at the Society’s 40th Annual General Meeting in September 2009. Nominations for election should be made on the form available on the Society’s website and should reach the Secretary no later than 31 August 2009

The President was elected for 12 months at the 39th AGM and is eligible for election for a further 12 months.
The Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer were elected at the 39th AGM for two years and will be eligible for an additional two years from 2010.

A maximum of three years is allowed under the Constitution for any Regional Councillor’s term. Number of years served by each Councillor by the AGM in 2008 is given in brackets.
