Hosts:
Very wide host range, including ferns and conifers. Commonly found in glasshouse crops. Not particularly common in Australia and only rarely collected on lettuce.

Distribution:
Widespread in most areas of the world.

Identification:
The distinctive dark markings on the dorsum of the abdomen helps identify this species. The wingless adult female (aptera) has a broad U-shaped patch and the winged adult female (alate) has a median dark patch and lateral striping.

The species was formerly known as Neomyzus circumflexus (Buckton)
