| Genus
Macroceps
Signoret 1879: 53
Type species: Macroceps fasciatus Signoret, designated by Signoret 1880: 364 by monotypy Known species: Five Australian species are currently classified in Macroceps. Comments: Of the five species listed under this genus, M. moorei and M. darwinensis would appear to belong elsewhere, assuming the specimens used to illustrate the species in this key are correctly identified. The specimens were identified by J.W. Evans, the author of both species. The diagnostic feature of the genus, the strongly convex pronotum forming a single continuous curve with the vertical crown which continues uninterrupted into the face, does not apply to those two species.
