Common Name: Yellow Leafhopper

Subfamily/Tribe: Typhlocybinae: Erythroneurini

Distribution: Qld, NSW, Vic,  ACT and NZ

Economic Status: Very wide host range in a wide variety of plant families.

Notes: Z. zealandica is a very small and delicate leafhopper closely similar in appearance to a large number of described and undescribed species of microleafhoppers (subfamily Typhlocybinae) in Australia and can be reliably identified by examination of the male genitalia. The structures of the genitalia, particularly the shape of the aedeagus, indicates that the species may not be correctly placed in the genus Zygina but further work is continuing on this group.
