KAFFIR LIME LEAVES

Citrus histrix

Kaffir Lime is a different species to the Tahitian Lime from which the marketed fruit is obtained. Kaffir Lime is grown for the leaves for which there is a demand particularly in Thai cuisine. The leaves are not prolifically produced, and the tree is thorny, making picking a slow process. This explains the high price of the product.

Kaffir Lime leaves are consigned to market loosely packed in poly bags in cardboard cartons.

Growing conditions: From tropical Northern Territory and North Queensland to coastal sub-tropical Queensland and NSW. Grows as far south as Central Coast of NSW.
